Country-level data are included where statistics have been reported or where it was possible to make an estimate. In case of change in the statistical coverage of a country, it is identified by adding an end year after the country name. Countries validity periods as well as special statistical coverages used in UNCTADstat are detailed below. Countries and territories are grouped by economic criteria or membership of trade agreements for the purposes of statistical analysis and research. This section includes countries and territories classified according to three categories of development: developing economies, transition economies and developed economies. Each category is further divided by geographical region. The exact composition of each region is detailed below. World' total represents the sum of the figures of the three above-mentioned groups plus the figures of a group of territories and partners not elsewhere classified, whose composition is detailed below. Data of these territories are included in the world total if they have been reported but are not presented individually or in any group, either geographical, economic or trade. PRODUCT CLASSIFICATION

STANDARD INTERNATIONAL TRADE CLASSIFICATION (SITC) REVISION 3

The Standard International Trade Classification which is a statistical classification of the commodities entering external trade. The current international standard is the SITC, Revision 3.
"UNCTAD product groups" are provided for special analytical interest.
The definition of "Manufactured goods by degree of manufacturing" is taken from Trade and Development Report (TDR) 2002 Annexes to Chapter III. Furthermore, some additional works were undertaken to convert the original list in SITC Rev.2 into SITC Rev.3, to extend its coverage to all commodities and to ensure consistency with existing UNCTAD product groups.

The list of ICT goods is defined by the OECD, and was revised in 2010. This new list consists of 95 goods defined at the 6 digit level of the 2007 version of the Harmonised System. ICT goods categories definition is according to the OECD’s Guide to measuring the Information Society 2011.
