International Law Commission, 2012–2016.The International law Commission was established by the General Assembly, in 1947, to undertake the mandate of the Assembly, under article 13 (1) (a) of the Charter of the United Nations to "initiate studies and make recommendations for the purpose of ... encouraging the progressive development of international law and its codification".
The Commission held its sixty-seventh session at the United Nations European Headquarters in Geneva from 4 May to 5 June and 6 July to 7 August 2015:
The following topics were on the programme of work of the Commission:
- Protection of persons in the event of disasters (not considered in 2015);
- Immunity of State officials from foreign criminal jurisdiction;
- Subsequent agreements and subsequent practice in relation to the interpretation of treaties;
- Most-Favoured-Nation clause;
- Provisional application of treaties;
- Identification of customary international law;
- Protection of the environment in relation to armed conflicts;
- Protection of the atmosphere;
- Crimes against humanity;
- Jus cogens.

2016 ELECTION
6 October 2015Nominations of candidates for the2016 election of the ILC should be received from member States by 1 June 2016.
ILC REPORT
18 September 2015The report of the International Law Commission on its sixty-seventh session (2015) is now available.
ADOPTION OF THE REPORT
7 August 2015The Commission adopted its report of the sixty-seventh session as a whole and thus concluded its work for that session.
REPORT OF THE PLANNING GROUP
5 August 2015Mr. Sturma, on behalf of the Chairman of the Planning Group, introduced the report of the Planning Group (A/CN.4/L.868). The Commission adopted the recommendations contained in the report of the Planning Group, as amended and took note of the report.
